The Portal
Mixed media (ink, acrylic and industrial paint, fineliner pens, strings, mortar) on stretched canvas. 102 x 51 x 5 cm / 40.1 x 20 x 1.9 in (2018)
The painting represents the gateway between different realms.
It is organised in three parts: a small stretched canvas fixed on the bottom, the middle part holds a circular frame which has been poured with generous amount of paint, the top part is made out of collages of former paintings on paper.
The three parts are bound by strings which stretch horizontally and vertically across the painting. Each part is defined by different laws and perspectives.
The rectangle, which shows the world map from the perspective of bird's eye view, the middle part is seen as a wormhole (portal) across the cosmos, the top part is the creative vision of the artists, which bears no limits, hence the absence of framing; connected only by the strings leading toward the portal and the other realm, the Unknown.
