Receiver
Mixed media painting on stretched canvas. This piece is a more complex mixed media painting on stretched canvas. 80 x 31 x 4 cm / 31.5 x 12.2 x 1.5 in (2017)
It is divided in three parts and made out of a circular frame (top part), a rectangular frame (middle part) and a collage of a former painting on paper which has been half ripped (bottom part).
Ornaments of the circular frame are composed of rectangular shaped fragments of former painting on canvas. These fragments are making their way towards the inside of the frame following the path of a spiral which opens again on another collage (former painting on foam board) that we identify as the Cosmos.
The rectangular frame in the middle part is made out of a collage of former painting glued on wood. Inside of the frame a landscape is depicted as a view through a window, this part especially has been generously filled with transparent, smooth medium which enhance the light reflection and create a deeper space. This middle part is identified as the land of civilization.
The bottom part is an assemblage / collage with paints and drawings on it. Chaotic composition that refers to our creative visions as artists.
The overall of Receiver is applied with golden paint.
